New Moon ~ Partial Solar Eclipse ~ Reflections

With every New Moon our soul goes into meditation and aligns with the inspiration of the Nirmanakayas; a potential is enlivened and a seed of consciousness is formed deep within. Take some time to create a sacred space. A new cycle is beginning.

Note: This New Moon solar eclipse is the third of a triad of eclipses in 2011, June 1 (partial solar eclipse), June 15 (total lunar eclipse), July 1 (partial solar eclipse). Eclipse Frequency ~ How to Deal with Eclipses

Commencement, Cooperation & Communication
Nick Fiorenza gives insight to this lunar cycle.
"This lunar cycle marks a turning point ... It is a time of
getting off the fence of indecision ... That which we put into action
now may precede and prepare us for greater events to come."

Animated Partial Eclipse of the Sun
July 1, 2011 at 1:54am PDT (8:54 UT)
"This partial eclipse can only be seen from the
[Antarctic] ocean. It is an almost insignificant
eclipse for the maximum obscuration is 9.7%."

This Solar Eclipse (squared by Saturn and Uranus, opposite Pluto) sparks the Cardinal Grand Cross. Pulled in multiple directions, we're fighting all the way ... Tender and vulnerable in the sign of Cancer, we make bold changes while fearing that we're "not ready". ... assertive, enterprising and creative ... [vs] ... ruthless, self-seeking and opportunistic. Jacqueline Lasahn / Facebook AstroFlash 6/29/11

The new Moon solar eclipse forms a grand cross with the cardinal energies we’ve been dealing with since last summer, energies that harken back to the 60s. Yes, that was the new birth that began it all, and now this eclipse is going to re-charge our emotional bodies with that dynamic energy of change and revolution. ... Despite various world-wide crises, we need to stay grounded in the Earth’s energy, whose present story is that of the Sacred Marriage of Heaven and Earth. Stay tuned to this story and you’ll discover the new story being born in you. Cathy Pagano

Cancer 2011Global Meditation
This meditation, which culminates at the
Full Moon in Cancer, begins with this New Moon.

Btw: In July there are 2 New Moons, July 1 and July 30. According to modern folklore, when there are two Full Moons in a month, we call the second a Blue Moon. But what do you call the second New Moon in a month? Years ago Spaceweather.com asked its readers to make a suggestion. Troy Silvey of Atlanta, Georgia came up with the winning name –– Ebony Moon.

Mercury is becoming better placed for observers at mid-northern latitudes; look low above the west to west-northwest horizon as the glow of sunset fades, as shown below. This evening, can you spot the thin crescent Moon below Mercury about a half hour after sunset? Bring binoculars.

The waxing Moon this month again passes under Virgo with Saturn and Spica. [7/6-8 Map]    Sky at a Glance 7/1-9 2011

More Maps of the waxing Moon in early July can be found here. Just scroll down to Mercury and Saturn to find the map links.

Happy Aphelion Day!
