From Me to We

The wisdom teachings explain that it is the greatest privilege
to get a human body because only a human body gives the
potential to planetary, solar and cosmic experiences. … the
transformation of the human body permits the soul to
express itself on all seven planes of creation and thus to
become an image of God. This is the goal of the great
experiment of the development of the human body.

- Circle of Goodwill, The Lunar Messenger, Leo 2015

The words "I AM" are so powerful that they must be used with extreme care. Why? Because the words "I AM" are your actual identity. They are your spiritual name, the identity of your spiritual self. Your "I AM" is the name of the God nature in you and of all the divine potential in you. It is who you are at your Christ essence. I AM is your true identity.
              - Unity

The initiatory process is undertaken from the moment the human soul becomes individualized ~ perhaps the outstanding characteristic of members of Humanity, in contrast to the other Kingdoms of Life.

Each one’s progress is experienced through the development of that individual’s Identification. The entire process of identification is summarized by D.K. in the Leo keywords, “I am that and that am I.” (1)

Stage 1 ~ Individuation ~ Leading to Personality Integration ~ “I am”

The initiatory journey is an arduous path from the outset, in that “… we are souls who have descended into the body of flesh and blood and have lost our true identity. We are totally imprisoned in the matter of the planet ….” (2)

Human experience during this initial phase is recognized also through governance by the Mutable Cross of the emerging aspirant. The separated self dominates each one’s self consciousness.

The masses of humanity are found in various stages of developing their integrated personality ~ wherein their physical, astral~emotional, and mental bodies are becoming balanced and unified.

Stage 2 ~ Initiation ~ Leading to Soul Fusion ~ “I am That”

The second, intermediary stage of movement from the Path of Individuation leading to Cosmic Identification is known as Discipleship, and is marked by one’s group identification.

Those who have transferred self-centered focus ~ who have reversed orientation to address instead the greater good shared by the groups of their affiliation ~ are under jurisdiction of the Fixed Cross ~ “I Stand in Spiritual Being and as a Soul I serve.”

To see and hold oneself as a unit within the One Life we all share and participate in indicates Group identification, rather than simply existing as a separate entity. The sacrifice of selfishness is honed and developed through the fires of group life.

This shift in alignment, moving away from darkness into the light of the Soul, is actually brought about by a development in consciousness from identification as the center of one’s personal, individual realm to see the Self in its true place among all humanity ~ “I am a soul within the greater soul.”

Stage 3 ~ Identification ~ Leading to Monadic Synthesis ~ “I am That I am”

Over lifetimes, as one’s consciousness undergoes continued expansions of consciousness, the third, final stage of Identification shifts onto higher planes of truth and heralds completion of the Third Initiation of Transfiguration.

This third stage of "I-ness" is known as the Cardinal Cross and is characterized by the consistent sacrifice of selfishness. Through application of the Yoga of Synthesis, eventual achievement of God consciousness is assured. The Group Identification of the second stage yields, sooner or later, to cosmic identification.

… Thus [we arrive] at the final stage of intelligent appreciation of divine unity.

This triple idea can be found summed up in the Bible in a rather interesting phrase, where Jehovah says to Moses, the representative man, "I am that I am." If you split this verse into its three parts you have what I have been seeking to bring out to-night: First, the atomic consciousness, I AM; then the group, I AM THAT; a consciousness that he is not just a separated individual, not only a self-centred unit, not only a self-conscious entity, but that he is something still greater. Man then reaches the recognition which will lead him to sacrifice his identity in the service of the group, and to merge his consciousness in that of the group. Of such a conscious union we know practically nothing as yet. This is succeeded by the still greater stage, when I AM THAT I AM will be for us not an impossible ideal, and a visionary concept, but a fundamental reality, when man in the aggregate will recognise himself as an expression of the universal life, and the group consciousness itself will be merged in that of the Aggregate of all groups.
              - Alice A. Bailey, The Consciousness of the Atom, p. 89-90

After merging the individual identity with that of the group ~ although never losing one’s distinct note and sound ~ the group itself has to blend again ~ this time becoming One with the consciousness of that great Identity Who is the synthesis of all.

Astronauts and Cosmonauts are a metaphor for humanity’s leap in consciousness from the relatively myopic to the entire grand scheme of Life, across the universe. Our physical form, after all, is only a symbol of the monadic essence it appears to embody.

Our focal point of awareness and attention has expanded by leaps and bounds in the scientific era of the past century. This is the true extrapolation of humanity’s evolution as a kingdom ~ an organism within even the even greater life forms of planet Earth, the solar system, and beyond.

The distinct awareness of each one’s sensory mechanism contributes to the overall repository of information available on widespread bases. Through the Principle of Sharing, as we are informed we also inform one another, as well as the lower kingdoms of Life.

The truth of our essential Oneness cannot be denied, even when attention is called to an individual matter or challenge. Once this Oneness has been recognized and accepted, more and more all decisions come from the angle of universality, and determinations are based on the greatest good for all involved.

”I am," says the human unit and regards himself as the self, and identifies himself with the changing form. Time and space are for him the true realities. "I am That," says the aspirant and seeks to know himself as he truly is, a living word, part of a cosmic phrase. For him space no longer exists; he knows himself as omnipresent. "I am That I am," says the freed soul, the liberated man, the Christ. Neither time nor space exist for him, and omniscience and omnipresence are his distinctive qualities.
              - Alice A. Bailey, The Light of  the Soul, p. 367

The Ahamkara Principle

The progression of Identification that underlies our shift in focus from horizontal and outward to vertical and upward is guided by the Ahamkara principle, the sense of I-ness that persists until after the fourth initiation of Renunciation.

… the "feeling of personality" as it has been called, the "I am I" consciousness, the ahamkara principle. It is this which produces the sense of personal reality and of one's being a separated unit of consciousness. It is the basis of the great "heresy of separateness" and the cause of the real or spiritual man being lured into the great illusion. It is this which forces man for long aeons to identify himself with the things of the senses and it is this too which eventually brings him to the position where he seeks liberation.
              - Alice A. Bailey, The Light of the Soul, p. 158-159

The Ahamkara principle ensures that wherever each one is presently oriented on the continuum of Identification is the right place, at any given time. Truly, the Individual Spirit of the human being, conscious of its own uniqueness among other members of the human family, is essential to the entire evolutionary process.

Change in the world comes from individuals, from the inner peace in individual hearts. Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.
              - His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama

Some call this principle the "I AM" principle, instead of using the Sanskrit term, Ahamkara.

The reality of this truth of one's Identification becomes apparent in the striving that comes to Light and Life with the progression from Me to We, and ultimately, to Cosmic Unity and Synthesis.

There is the development of self-consciousness to be fostered and this is the major effect ~ as well you know ~ of the force of Leo. The influence of this constellation aids in the manifestation of individual will, individual love, and individual intelligence; it fosters the "ahamkara" or egoistic principle; it produces the emphasis upon the "I am" attitude which is so necessary a stage before the individual can merge himself as a conscious Self-respecting unit in the Whole. But behind this influence and pressing through into manifestation is the force of Virgo (the mother or custodian of the Christ-consciousness) which shatters eventually the synthesis and the lower unity already produced by the Leo energy.

The word I should be kept only for special responsibility and testimony.
The word
we is for the whole of life and for cooperation.
Then there is also the word
But first one must accept the word
we and realize cooperation.
