Fomalhaut and the Transition of the Ages ~ Week of February 22 - 28

There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading to the same place, so it doesn't matter
which path you take. The only person wasting time is the one who runs around the mountain,
telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.

- Hindu Proverb

This year's new moon initiating the Pisces full moon lunar cycle occurred on February 18, merely minutes before the zodiacal sign of Pisces commenced. This auspiciously coincides as the Sun and Moon move into alignment with Fomalhaut, one of the Royal Stars that indicate Direction, from Earth's perspective.

Because Fomalhaut, whose ecliptic address is 4° Pisces, sits in the constellation Piscis Austrinus the Southern Fish close to the cusp between the constellations Aquarius and Pisces, its significance is surely heightened as our earthly civilization embarks upon the new Aquarian age, following 2000 years of the Piscean age. This transition of the ages heralds the major shift in energies from those influenced by the 6th Ray of Devotion and Idealism into those qualities expressing the 7th Ray characterized by Divine Order and Ritual.

Fomalhaut, one the "Four Royal Architects," [Royal Stars] inspires future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences, in technology, and in social issues of the world. Fomalhaut promotes the flow of resources within the human populous that creates a wholesome human condition. Fomalhaut defies convention and compartmentalization, but supports individuality, progress, and freedom.

In the heavens the Southern Fish drinks water flowing from the Water Bearer Aquarius. Other stories credit the stellar fish swallowing the waters of the great deluge, thereby saving the world.

This name Fomalhaut comes from the Arabic meaning Fish's Mouth. It has also been referred to as the Solitary One, for there are no other bright stars located in its proximity. As a first magnitude star, Fomalhaut’s constellation Piscis Austrinus is more noticeable in the night sky than the zodiacal constellation Pisces.

Traditionally this star is held to be quite variable in effect ~ either very good or very bad, depending on the overall cosmic structure. References to Fomalhaut from ancient mythologies are nonetheless somewhat sketchy.

Eratosthenes called this the Great Fish, and said that it was the parent of the two smaller fishes of Pisces. An ancient constellation, Piscis Austrinus represents the Babylonian fish-god Oannes, who came to Earth to teach humans how to become civilized.

The Southern Fish was sacred to the Egyptians, who imagined the infamous Nile fish had swallowed the phallus of the dismembered Osiris. It has been speculated in recent times that swallowing Osiris's creative appendage may well be a precessional symbol of the shift from the age of Aries to the age of Pisces that took place around 100 BC.

There is also associated with this star's powerful emanations a malevolence of sublime scope and character. Nonetheless, as is fitting for the transition of the Ages from Pisces to Aquarius, Fomalhaut influences changes from material to spiritual forms of expression.

The specific Age (or energies) is empowered by that constellation along the zodiac which rises behind the sun on the spring equinox, March 21. According to this designation, during the present segue from the Piscean to the Aquarian age the area in which Fomalhaut is located in the heavens is where the equinox dawning sun now aligns  ~

This is a very fortuitous location in the Humanitarian Waterbearer, one that nourishes the body of humanity. Fomalhaut, one of the Four Royal stars of the zodiak, is the voice of humanity as a whole and brings attention to humanity's fundamental needs. Fomalhaut and associated stars impel us to seek ways to create an evolved humanitarian-based and flourishing society, one free from segregations and inequalities. They inspire new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. They are of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition.

Accordingly, from the perspective of our planetary life, at this time in evolution we are becoming aware of the third Great Approach, "... which will bring the new revelation, with its realised consequences, of a new heaven and a new earth." (1)

Many of us are being guided on a "need to know" basis, as to our service.

Invoking, receiving, and directing the cosmic power of Pisces, the world savior, of sacrifice and death, of renunciation and detachment, of bondage and captivity, the group server can allow this cosmic energy to wash through all aspects of itself, through the human soul, through human expression and activity, and through the entire planet, bringing with it the spiritual power to appropriate divinity directly into human material form and expression. As it does so, the world savior is born within humanity and divinity is revealed.

This particular recent new moon on February 18 initiated the Pisces 2015 cycle. As the second new moon following the winter solstice, every year it heralds a fertile time. This is widely known as as Chinese New Year, also as Losar in the Tibetan calendar, and through Hindu tradition, this new moon is the holy day of Maha Shivarati.

Shivaratri, the cosmic merger of Shiva and Shakti, is celebrated on the dark moon of Magha. Shiva means higher consciousness and ratri means night, referring to the ‘dark night of the soul’, the state just before illumination. So Shivaratri is a symbol of the spiritual state of samadhi.

Shiva is the eternal faculty of awareness, the unchanging, unmoving spark of the divine in each of us. Shakti gives us the mind and body that are our tools for the direct perception of this divine awareness. The union of Shiva and Shakti is the primordial symbol of eternal communion with the divine. Here there is neither purity nor impurity, neither affirmation nor denial, neither form nor formlessness, but a state of superconscious being that is beyond all duality.

And the Persian calendar instead prepares to observe the new year one month later on the spring equinox, as Nowrooz.

In Christianity, last week's new moon during the Aquarius lunar cycle, as it does each year, commences the Time of Lent, a cycle of cleansing for renewal inaugurating the high and holy Easter season.

Pisces, the sign representative of the World Savior, is similarly associated with the nature of Sacrifice. In consummation, another attribute of Pisces, we may eventually evolve Sacrifice into Bliss.

Bliss, we're told by Alice Bailey, is the pure nature of Spirit and may be comprehended only upon the soul's realization of oneness with divine essence, on the level of mind ~ following its at-onement with the personal self. (2)

The Bliss of Sacrifice is applied not just in the surrender of the lower self to reveal the higher. The bliss referred to is a profound effect of service, calling moreover for the "... death of that which is higher in the order and scale of being, in order to release that which is lower." (3)

When the separated self comes to understand itself as a part of a greater life, we become willing to sacrifice ourselves for the good of the whole. We become strong enough to subordinate the self, the part, the fragment of the totality of life. Finally, the hero-soul realizes that there is in reality no separation at all, but one pervading Life. We learn the joy [or bliss] of sacrifice, for as we joyfully pour ourself forth as part of Life Universal, we truly understand that all Life is One, and that nothing has been lost.
          - Patsy Newman, The Law of Sacrifice

Our very experience affirms the recognition of the group Soul, present and active in our awareness, providing support and stamina. As we meet the challenges that arise during times of collective or individual crisis, we are thereby fortified.

The working disciples throughout the world are struggling with every means at their disposal to spread the gospel of sacrifice, because only upon sacrifice can world stability be safely founded ~ the sacrifice of selfishness.
          - Alice A. Bailey, The Externalisation of the Hierarchy

The present Piscean energies assist in summoning the World Saviour through sacrifice, as we align to this Plan and Purpose. For it's up to us, to ring into Life the age of Aquarius.
