Look Up! ... Two New Cycles Begin

Hello Night Sky Travelers,
September 5, 4:36am PDT marked the start of a new lunar cycle. September 5 also marked the High Holy Day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. These potent new beginnings provide an opportunity to transform and transcend the past and tap into the sacred unknown, to be receptive to that which divinely influences our present manifestation on Earth.

We are now in the time following two lunar cycles that have established a connection to Sirius our Spiritual Sun and its greater evolutionary and extraplanetary forces. With the expanded Sirian alignment we are strengthened in the Light. As these two new cycles unfold in the following days and weeks, a potential, our divine blueprint, is enlivened within. We need only recognize this divine essence and call upon it as we move forward in our lives.

Our New Moon ... lies in sidereal Leo, at the Hind of the Lion ... under the auspices of Mizar of the Great Bear. This area of the zodiac is about creative motive ... also of global-level grand spectacle, often time of a diversionary nature created by world powers with hidden agenda ... it invites us to look beyond ... smoke screens and to attune to and act upon more transcendent evolutionary currents guiding our lives. Mizar is of fiery energy ... conducive for developing new creative projects ... those intended for public presentation ... events of a grand scale ... This lunar cycle engages a crescendo of intensity ... Actions taken now, over these immediate few months, both personally and globally, can be critical, as they set up significant currents that can define our course over many years ahead. - Nick Fiorenza / Lunar Theme: Grand Spectacle & Transcendent Evolutionary Currents

Crescent Luna Dances with Two Planets
Venus Dazzles Our Eyes and Lifts our Spirit

Venus is bright, but bring binoculars to help with the faint objects low in the twilight. The Moon is positioned as it's seen from the middle of North America. The blue 10° scale is about the width of your fist held at arm's length.

September 7, Saturday While twilight is still bright, use binoculars to look for the thin crescent Moon just above the western horizon to the lower right of Venus and Spica, as shown here. And plan for the lovely Moon-Venus conjunction tomorrow [September 8, Sunday]!

Sunday, September 8 before dawn look east. The planet Mars nestles near the Beehive star cluster (M44). Binoculars are a treat and a must to see this faint and fuzzy heavenly hive transform into a "sparkling array of stars!" The ruddy glow of Mars is an added special delight. In the Northern Hemisphere the ecliptic rises high at a steep angle on September mornings. 9/8 Dawn Map Look again Monday, September 9 before dawn. Where is Mars now? Where are the "bees?"

BTW: The LADEE was slated for launch Sept. 6 to study mysterious lunar twilight rays.

Dazzling Venus Lifts Our Spirit

Venus blazes at magnitude -4.0. The planet is so bright that it can be seen in a light sky and is often mistaken for a UFO. Begin looking for this dazzling goddess of love around 7:30pm, above the west-southwest horizon. Scan the sky back and forth and up and down in this area. How early will you spot luminous Venus? Binoculars may be helpful with your first light sky observation. Know that clouds or fog might interfere with your sighting. In a dark sky Venus is magnificent and when aligned with a Crescent Moon the vision is breathtaking. Look Up!

Not only does the dazzling visual appearance of this planet give us a "hearty" boost, her emanations are bound to lift our spirit.

Venus brings the Love Principle to emerging new Life and harmonizes humanity with the gifts of understanding, wise love, unity, creativity and beauty. The emanations of this planet help one begin to understand the causes and conditions of harmony and conflict. They thereby lovingly and wisely promote diplomacy and establish right human relations between all people and between nations. The qualities of Venus, when incorporated into the life give birth to the sons and daughters of God, the self-consecrated human beings who manifest their Divinity on Earth.

As the waxing Crescent Moon approaches, meets and passes Venus, it arouses the more transcendent evolutionary currents guiding our lives at this time. The young Moon and Venus are calling for new life and a set of values that precipitates synthesis.

Be receptive to, call upon and ponder Venus as our two new cycles, New Moon and New Year, Rosh Hashanah, emerge and unfold.
