The New Moon is really a no Moon! This Moon is too close to the Sun to be seen. It is hidden from our view by the Sun's glowing light.
Note: For those living in San Francisco this New Moon takes place below the western horizon 4 hours after sunset. The Sun, New Moon and planets are located in the same constellations for other parts of the world; these constellations, in differing time zones, lie in a different location above or below the horizon.

With every New Moon our soul goes into meditation and aligns with the inspiration of the Nirmanakayas; a potential is enlivened and a seed of consciousness is formed deep within. Take some time to create a sacred space. A new cycle is beginning.
The New Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn are stirring the immortal essence of humanity from its slumber, as they lie in Virgo the Virgin’s heavenly Holy Grail. The emanations of Virgo protect and nurture humanity's innate divinity, so that it may grow and emerge, ultimately giving rise to the HU-man being * , a God-man, a Christed ONE on Earth.
Spica symbolizing the sacred womb of the Virgin, accepts and nourishes the seed of divine will from Arcturus, the savior avatar. This seed of divinity resides in Virgo and therefore within humanity, the sacred Chalice for the Divine Host on Earth.
The Moon, esoteric ruler of Virgo, when located in the Virgin, is giving humankind a great potential toward world service. This potential in Spica's sacred womb portends a deep growing awareness of the importance of service during this lunar cycle. October 20, Tuesday, an unobstructed horizon is needed to see a very low, slivered Moon diagonally lining up below Antares. For any of the above days plan a sunset outing with a clear southwestern view. Bring binoculars to use as a helpful tool in spotting Antares and for an added treat in checking out elegant Luna.
Say hello this week to the Moon coming up from its monthly conjunction with the Sun, and goodbye to Antares disappearing down toward its own conjunction.

Young Luna is stoking the fires of the Scorpion’s burning ground. The constellation Scorpius gives rise to the kundalini serpent fire within each of us. This fire is evolutionary and transformative. Antares the fiery heart of the Scorpion demands we take a stand for our truth, thus keeping visions current, ensuring growth, evolution and change.

Note: Every 27.55 days, the Moon's orbit brings it closer to Earth and then farther away. These orbital points are know as apogee and perigee. The First Quarter Moon is at apogee (farthest from the Earth at 251,137 miles) 4:18pm PDT (23:18 UT).
At over 251,000 miles away, this is the farthest and smallest first quarter moon for all of 2009. ... Farthest first quarter moons recur in cycles of 14 lunar months. ... the 14th return to first quarter moon will fall on December 13, 2010. Reflections ~ First Quarter Moon
The First Quarter Moon, exact Sunday, October 25, at 5:42pm PDT (00:42 UT) squares the Sun at a 90-degree angle and brings up a tension between desires and emotions, as we struggle for fulfillment. Ideally any obstacles impeding the awareness conceived at the New Moon are overcome at this time.
Luna activates the Jupiter-Neptune pairing in the dim "smiling" constellation of Capricornus. She enlivens the diagonal line-up (southeast - northwest) of Fomalhaut in Pisces Austrinus, Jupiter in Capricornus, Altair in Aquila and Vega in Lyre. See this Sky Chart for orientation.
The emanations of Capricornus support a new cycle of effort, one with immense spiritual possibilities, one that gives full expression to the earthly nature. Jupiter in the constellation Capricornus assists one in transcending their crystalized lower nature by replacing desire with love, hence bringing a triumphant soul into manifestation. Telescopic Neptune in this constellation aids our rebirth by helping us rebuild or create structures that manifest our dreams, our spirit on Earth. These planets working through Capricornus can open the doorway to the head center and bestow humanity with divine purpose and vision.
Jupiter's prograde and retrograde motion in 2009, bring it in exact conjunction with Neptune three-times! The first two closest approaches occurred 5/27 and 7/10. The third occurs on the December solstice 12/21. This triple event is rare. The pairing of Jupiter and Neptune arouses our ideals and awakens a greater sense of compassion. The heavens through repetition are sounding the Word, guiding, seeding and evolving humankind through its heart and soul during this time of global transition.
Jupiter forms a striking diagonal line-up with Fomalhaut to the southeast, Altair and Vega to the northwest. These three celestial bodies are prominent in an otherwise dim part of the sky. Fomalhaut lies at the mouth of the great Southern Fish, Pisces Austrinus, which drinks from the jug of Aquarius. It is associated with the transition of the ages from Pisces to Aquarius.
Fomalhaut, one the "Four Royal Architects," [Royal Stars] inspires future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society. ... Fomalhaut promotes the flow of resources within the human populous that creates a wholesome human condition. Altair the southern point of the Summer Triangle is also the head or eye of Aquila the Eagle. Altair reminds us that vision and freedom come when the intellect can make the leap to intuition and we awaken to the promptings of our essential divinity. In flight Aquila is known to carry mighty thunderbolts in his talons. These can shake one to their core, if one fails to hear or resists the divine promptings.
Vega, the brightest and western point of the Summer Triangle is the swooping eagle that flies down to Earth, a link between Heaven and Earth. Vega is also associated with the lyre or harp that has the power to tame all creatures. It will be our North Star in about 12,000 years.
As you view Fomalhaut, Jupiter, Altair, Vega and the transiting Moon, open to their emanations. Ponder a humanitarian world based on a greater sense of compassion, the love of the soul manifesting on Earth. Luna Swims the Celestial Sea

Luna swims in the dark pool of the heavens filled with watery constellations and dim stars. Some call this the Celestial Sea. Capricornus the Sea Goat was the first to meet Luna with a big smile October 25 and Luna was in good company with Neptune the sea god and his brother Jupiter October 26-27. Review Above Aquarius the Water Bearer and Piscis Austrinus the Southern Fish welcome Luna and her growing light in their deep waters October 28. Pisces the Fishes and Cetus the Whale [aka the Monster] along with unpredictable Uranus trick and treat her October 29 - Halloween! You may want to try sailing the Celestial Sea on a dark moonless night to test your navigation skills.
The Summer Triangle, sinking in the west, gives way to autumn's Great Square of Pegasus rising toward the zenith. Some see these stars as part of an Autumn Dipper, and a Flying Horse.
Note: A line drawn from the western side of the Great Square to the southern horizon leads one to Fomalhaut, the Southern Royal Star.

Reflections ~ Waxing Gibbous Moon
The waxing Gibbous Moon is more than half lit, moving toward its full sunlit phase. Illumination and growth are offered by this lunar phase, only if the obstacles from the past are cleared away. This must happen, if the energy released with the coming Full Moon is to be utilized.
October 28, Wednesday, Luna enters the depths of Aquarius the Water Bearer whose water jug provides nourishment for the Southern Fish and Royal Star, Fomalhaut.
The constellation Aquarius is one of supreme importance to our solar system at this time, for it is the sign into which our sun is rapidly moving ~ and with each passing decade its influence gains momentum and potency. October 29-31, Thursday-Saturday, Luna swims with the two fishes of Pisces and the whale Cetus, also known as the Sea Monster! Unpredictable Uranus is lurking in these waters. Watch out for the tricks and savor the treats!
The fusion or union of the Pisces fishes, matter and spirit, produces the Incarnated Christ, the perfected individual soul. In this process the lesser and greater polar opposites — the human being and God — are brought to their destined, radiantly divine expression. This is truly a treat that can be savored, the HU-man * world savior.
Rebellious Uranus in Pisces arouses a willful rejection of a limited reality and humanity must suddenly shift into new visions that encompass the greater whole and lead to greater freedom. This is very tricky business because Saturn opposes Uranus on the zodiacal wheel from 2008-2010. The new and unconventional energies of Uranus want to free themselves from the conformity and long-established energies represented by Saturn. The tension between the two planets places our world at a threshold of new social, religious and cultural order.
Cetus is quite a trickster. Is Cetus a whale or a monster? Is the whale's tail the monster's jaws or is the monster's tail the whale's head? Cetus Image The whale is an ancient symbol for creation; many myths speak of how human life sprang from the sea. On the other hand Cetus the Sea Monster represents destruction. Hmmm ... Cetus represents the human struggle, that of a spiritual being in human form. Creation, destruction, evolution ... It's tricky!
To fuse the fishes and free ourselves from a limited reality, we aim the arrow of the mind toward the intuition, the source of vision, purpose and greater freedom. We transform our monsters in the initiatory fires of evolution. Centered in Divinity we become the Phoenix, the HU-man, arising from the ashes. We celebrate the end of the world as we know it, the journey of the spirit in and out of form and of course Halloween!

Any Full Moon experience can offer us greater illumination of our essential divinity. Issues worked on since the New Moon come to a climax. If the restrictions of the past have been released during the waxing Moon, then the Full Moon can bring fulfillment. If not, the Full Moon might bring serious mental conflicts, possibly affecting the physical body.

Reflections ~ Full Moon's Illumination
The Full Moon during Scorpio is illuminated by the Sun positioned in Libra near Mercury. Scorpio helps us attune to the three lights of form, soul and life, which meet, blend and rise. Libra gives us insight into the greater whole as we walk the razor edged path balancing the apparent dualities of the mortal form and the eternal spirit. Mercury illumines the mind so that we may link the personality to the soul.

The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, are intimately linked to Sirius, our Earth, humanity and the higher aspect of mind. The Pleiades seed the vision of Aldebaran, which in turn holds a divine ideal that can aid humanity's evolutionary process through its political systems, its nations.

The horns of the cosmic Bull represent a battleground with the southern horn symbolic of stalemates and standoffs, and the northern horn characteristic of perseverance and breakthroughs. The Last Quarter Moon can bring a crisis in consciousness as the Moon squares the Sun. This cycle's experiences have culminated and one must now prepare for rebirth by initiating change. This lunar phase is exact November 9 at 7:56am PDT (15:56 UT).
Cancer, a doorway into incarnation, reminds us that life is beyond the form experience. We are of the spirit and belong to its everlasting life. Cancer urges us to reorient ourselves toward this life, to aim the arrow of the mind away from the astral currents of the mass consciousness toward the intuition. Cancer encourages us to listen to and trust our inner compass and guidance, to sense right direction and initiate the changes that nourish the soul and spirit. The emanations of Cancer help us build a lighted house wherein Life dwells.
This lunar cycle is arousing the Higher Power within each and every one of us. It is tuning us to the Word and its still small voice. It is giving rise to HU-manity *. Luna's position underscores the message of Cancer. Luna also affirms and is in physical alignment with Regulus the Lawgiver, the presiding one who upholds vertical integrity. Regulus the heart star of Leo the Lion tunes us to the Higher Law of the Soul, the fire of Divine Will, the truth within our hearts.
Cancer, Luna and Regulus are directing the fiery, driving willful energies of action-oriented Mars toward the spiritual battles within. Mars the spiritual warrior knows that apparent outer enemies are really a reflection of inner demons. Mars the spiritual warrior gives us the needed courage and discipline to interact with opposing forces, transcend our inner demons, transform ourselves, take action for the greater good and die to our former self. Such a warrior truly gives rise to the Phoenix, the HU-man being, a God-man, a Christed ONE on Earth.

The waning Crescent Moon phase brings enlightenment at a deep level, a time of conscious growth, clarification of values and the surrender to a new future. Rebirth can occur and playfulness can come forth.
This lunar cycle is ending where it began, in Virgo the Virgin's Holy Grail. The emanations of Virgo nurture our innate divinity, spiritual awareness and Christ consciousness until it can be made manifest, ultimately giving rise to the HU-man being * .
Saturn in the Holy Grail conceives the structures that exteriorize the unfolding Christ consciousness. These structures foster synthesis and serve in a healing capacity.
The Moon, esoteric ruler of Virgo, when located in the Virgin, awakens humankind to its great potential of world service. A deep growing awareness of the importance of service on Earth is affirmed and fostered by Virgo the Virgin's heralding of a new day, Luna's waning crescent phase and her lengthy 4-day transit of the constellation.
Porrima, the star named after the goddess of childbirth and prophecy, emphasizes new beginnings and the use of guiding intuition during change and its birthing process. Spica symbolizing the sacred womb of the Virgin, accepts and nourishes the seed of divine will from Arcturus, the savior avatar. Corvus, in alignment with Arcturus and Virgo, assures us of our essential divinity and its everyday guiding voice.
