The New Moon is really a no Moon! This Moon is too close to the Sun to be seen. It is hidden from our view by the Sun's glowing light.
Note: For those living in San Francisco this New Moon takes place below the eastern horizon about an hour before sunrise. The Sun, New Moon and planets are located in the same constellations for other parts of the world; these constellations, in differing time zones, lie in a different location above or below the horizon.
New Moon ~ Wesak II Lunar Cycle, Aries, Venus
With every New Moon our soul goes into meditation; a potential is enlivened and a seed of consciousness is formed deep within. Take some time to create a sacred space. A new cycle is beginning.
The Wesak is an auspicious Full Moon Festival that occurs in the sign of Taurus. In 2008 there are two Full Moons during Taurus. This New Moon marks the beginning of the Wesak II lunar cycle. The potent evolutionary energies of the Wesak open a direct channel of communication between Deity and Humanity. The Wesak gives an understanding of this Festival, as well as the significant relationship of Wesak I and II.
The Wesak II New Moon, Sun and Venus are enlivening the constellation Aries. The emanations from this constellation give us the opportunity to align with the Light of Life itself. These energies stream forth the will or power of Deity, made manifest through the creative process.
Both Aries and the Wesak open and strengthen the connection between the Human and Spiritual Kingdoms. Aspirants and disciples use this powerful channel of communication to access guiding forces for the purpose of divine expression on Earth. This supreme contact gives birth to divine ideas and new beginnings.
The placement of Venus in the constellation Aries brings the Love Principle to the emerging new Life, fostering a pure expression of Universal Mind also known as Buddhi. Venus helps one begin to understand the causes and conditions of harmony and conflict; thereby lovingly and wisely linking the lower mind to the higher mind. Venus continues to transit Aries through the time of the Full Moon, when it lies at the constellation border of Aries and Taurus.
Reflections
~ Cetus, Triangulum,
Andromeda, Perseus
Contact with Deity does not come without struggle and effort. Holding our sight on the divine goal of unity and on our divine relationship to Deity is a necessary discipline.
The New Moon and Sun lie above the jaws of the sea monster Cetus, and below Perseus our hero and Triangulum the Holy Trinity.
The theme of Aries the Ram … is about the initiatory challenges with authority figures that continually create obstacles and limitations across life's path. …The lessons of Aries awaken us from our denial and naiveté regarding how arrogance and greed create our own entrapment in the Jaws of Cetus--the jaws continually pulling us into the transmutational fires of human experience.
Triangulum, also called the Holy Trinity … embodies the essence of seeing unity beyond duality. … Triangulum is the gate of ascension through the initiation of the fire of sidereal Aries. …The relinquishment of judgmental mind establishes the resonance that opens a higher vibrational portal beyond the lower psychic strata of opposing forces and beyond the limited choices that duality holds. Nick Fiorenza
Perseus is our hero. He not only slays the mythical Gorgon Medusa (Algol), a vicious mortal female with hair of living venomous snakes, he also saves the chained princess Andromeda from the jaws of Cetus using the slain head of Medussa.
Andromeda's freedom and the heroics of Perseus are both dependent on an inner spiritual maturity and metamorphosis. Andromeda's readiness to receive aid and the self-mastery process of Perseus result in a triumphant divine union for both.
Andromeda, the essence of Divine Love, represents the exquisite beauty destined for human unfoldment, but which is held in bondage by the very judgment of that humanness. Andromeda has a destiny on Earth with her true soul partner Perseus, but finds herself desperately entrapped in both the emotional genetic confusions of her incarnate family and in the psychic manipulations of outside meddling forces due to her own naivete about Earthian ways.
Perseus represents the initiatory process itself--the way, the challenges to overcome and milestones to achieve in the human world to evolve into our destined unity. Andromeda, Perseus, and The Royal Family
The age-old evolutionary struggles of humanity create the needed divine transformation within.
Reflections ~ Taurus, Mercury
As the lunar cycle unfolds, the youngest Crescent Moon moves through the constellation Taurus and transits Mercury. The Moon is in exact conjunction with the planet May 6 at 2:31pm PDT; 21:31 UT.
Both Taurus and Mercury shower the mind of humanity with an illuminating Light. More reflections can be found below the next star map.
In Summary
As is evident in our mythology, historical events and current news broadcasts, humanity's relationship to each other has a tendency to reveal judgment, opposition and conflict. These age-old outer struggles provide the raw energies necessary for our inner transformation and entrance into the higher vibrational realms.
This personal evolution brings us into contact with Deity and the guiding forces for the purpose of divine expression on Earth. In time humanity's conflicts lead toward right human relationships and the revelation of divine kinship and union.
The Wesak II lunar cycle highlights our evolutionary struggles and impresses humanity with the illuminating energies of Divine Will, Love and Light. We are indeed being blessed from on High, as we pass through the initiatory fires of Spirit. It is good!

Reflections
~ Waxing Crescent Moon,
Taurus, Mercury, Elnath
Overcoming obstacles to the new incoming awareness begins with the waxing Crescent Moon. What was conceived at the New Moon: Evolutionary Struggles ~ Illuminating Energies, is now in the process of waxing or gestating. Review above
May 6-7, Tuesday-Wednesday, the evening's young sliver of a Moon moves through the constellation Taurus the Bull. The enlightened mind is the gift of Taurus when one transforms desire into spiritual aspiration.
Slim Luna lies just to the upper right of Mercury May 6. Binoculars and a flat horizon improve visibility in the twilight's glow. Mercury and the Moon set around 10:10pm.
Mercury gives its best 2008 evening performance in the constellation Taurus during the sign of Taurus! This messenger of the gods illuminates the higher mind creating a link between the Soul and the personality. The emanations of this planet create Divine messengers. Mercury now at its best accentuates the illuminating qualities of Taurus and the Wesak II lunar cycle. Tune to Mercury's guidance for help with any struggles that may arise.
Elnath lies like jewel to the right (north of) the Crescent Moon May 7, both set around 11:15pm. This star, the tip of the northern (upper) horn of Taurus the Bull, is also a southern star in the constellation Auriga. It lies almost opposite our galactic center. When we look at Elnath we are looking toward the regions of intergalactic space. Tune to Elnath for perseverance and breakthroughs. Allow Elnath to expand your horizons, free you from limiting influences and align you with the heart of our galaxy and its blessings.
Reflections ~ Gemini, Mars
May 8-9, Thursday-Friday, the waxing Crescent Moon journeys through the constellation of the Gemini Twins. The Moon lies to the right (north of) the star Mebsuta May 8; the following evening May 9, growing Luna nears the eternal Twin, the star Pollux.
Ponder the Gemini Twins. The emanations of this constellation keep the interplay of energies between dualities active and flowing so that eventually they reach synthesis and unity. Though opposites, representing the form (Castor) and spirit (Pollux), the Twins innately cooperate for the benefit of the whole. Together they are and do something greater than either can alone.
Mars, now in the vicinity of the Twins, is moving eastward toward the Beehive star cluster in the dim constellation of Cancer. Star Map/Text Between May 21 and 23 Mars buzzes the Beehive! Star Map
The Red Planet accentuates the interplay of Gemini's energies by giving additional opportunities for action and interaction with opposing forces! Hmmm ... perhaps the way of least resistance is to use the cooperative strategy of the Twins!
Take some time to imagine humanity fostering the quality of cooperation in difficult interactions and struggles. Invoke humanity's inner divine potential that benefits all!
Note: Get ready to Celebrate Astronomy Day Saturday, May 10. Visit a nearby science museum, planetarium or astronomy club. This is a great time to visit your nearest science center, planetarium or astronomy club. You might even get a chance to look through a solar telescope or enter drawings to win a Meade telescope. In the evening look at Mercury, Mars and Saturn. Watch the Moon pass through the Beehive star cluster. Enjoy lots of astronomical activities throughout the day!

Mars is moving southeasterly, further away from the Gemini Twins. It now resides in the constellation of Cancer.
Note: The Moon conjoins Mars at 6:50am PDT; 13:50 UT and occults (hides) it for observers in parts of Europe, N Africa and SW Asia. IOTA
The waxing Moon is also in Cancer. This is the dimmest constellation found along the ecliptic, but it holds one of the brightest star clusters in the sky, the Beehive (M44). Tonight Luna buzzes the Beehive.
As darkness falls across North America on May 10, the moon will already be advancing upon the star cluster. If you live in southern Canada or the northern United States, the moon will interact with little more than with a glancing blow, skirting the cluster's very lowest edge and covering only a few stars. Over the central part of the country, the moon will pass across the lower third of the cluster, while viewers across the southern states will see the moon hide its lower half. Space.com / Joe Rao
Binoculars normally show dozens of "bees" (stars) in the hive, while telescopes reveal a couple hundred. In the city with binoculars the Moon's bright light is expected to veil the stars. Find a dark sky and an "Astronomy Day" telescope to view Luna passing through the swarm of bees.
Whether you are in the city or the country look for Mars, the Gemini Twins and Procyon to the west of the Moon. Use binoculars to check out Luna's earthshine in the hive. Map/Text
Reflections ~ Astronomy Day
The evolutionary struggles and the illuminating energies of this lunar cycle, as well as the celebration of Astronomy Day reminded me of the following quote. Nick Fiorenza uses it near the bottom of his home page.
The stars would not be in the Heavens
if we were meant to walk in darkness.
Reflections
~ First Quarter Moon,
Leo the Lion, Saturn, Regulus
The First Quarter Moon, exact May 11 at 8:47pm PDT; 03:47 UT 5/12, squares the Sun bringing up a tension, as it signals the balance between light and dark moving toward the light. Obstacles to the new incoming awareness show themselves now. Move toward the light.
Use the map above for orientation ...
May 11-13, Sunday-Tuesday, Luna fattens as she transits Leo the Lion. Her quarter phase lights up the head and heart of Leo the Lion. Her luminous glow makes seeing the outline of the Lion more difficult, yet she guides us to two heavenly bodies.
Luna lies west of the Lion's blue-white heart star, Regulus the Lawgiver May 11. Near Regulus to the east (see map above) lies the yellowish orb of Saturn the Lord of Karma. Once you locate the intimate duo overhead, they become a current landmark in the heavens. Over time watch Saturn separate from Regulus as the planet moves eastward.
Note: The Moon conjoins Saturn May 12 at 3:04pm PDT; 22:04 UT.
Luna passes southeast of the duo forming a triangle with them the evening of May 12, as she changes to her waxing gibbous phase. May 13 she lies in the vicinity of Leo's tail.
Leo the Lion, Regulus the Lawgiver and Saturn the Lord of Karma are preparing us to work together with the will and purpose of Deity. They are evoking the Law of the Soul within humanity. This work is emphasized by the Wesak II lunar cycle and the Moon's placement.
Regulus focuses and regulates the energy of Sirius toward the Earth stimulating a response in humanity that expresses the Christ consciousness, the quality we call love-wisdom.
... As Saturn moves through Leo ... Many new leaders who have love in their heart will come to power ... Those who have long neglected to love others are going to find themselves in a state of darkness. Mahala Planet Alert 7/05
... History reveals that kings and leaders do not fare well with Saturn in Leo, especially when hubris is involved. It often brings about shifts in national borders and even in regimes themselves.
... We must learn to balance the value of the individual with the needs of the collective. That’s the essence of the polarity between Leo and Aquarius. Jim Sher
Tests of leadership, honesty and integrity are experienced with Saturn's passage through Leo. We are bound to question the laws governing our lives and limiting the expression of Spirit. Practices that support genuine self-love, goodwill and the connection with our Higher Power are needed now.
Note: Mercury officially mounts the northern "Bull Horn" as it reaches greatest elongation May 13. This illuminating messenger of the gods sparks our intuition by linking us to the soul. Taurus the Bull and its northern horn help us persevere and reach enlightenment.

Reflections
~ Waxing Gibbous Moon,
Virgo
the Virgin
The waxing Gibbous Moon is more than half lit, moving toward its full sunlit phase. Illumination and growth are offered by this lunar phase, only if the obstacles from the past are cleared away. This must happen, if the energy released with the coming Full Moon is to be utilized.
Use the map above for orientation ...
May 14-16, Wednesday-Friday, the waxing Gibbous Moon transits the constellation Virgo the Virgin, our Heavenly Holy Grail. This transit culminates May 16 in a conjunction with Spica her stellar sacred womb.
... Virgo is the pregnant, expectant aspect of maternity; she is expecting the divine child in whom both principles of spirit and matter are blended into perfect unity. This child is born in every human life simply by the opening of the heart, and the subsequent desire to lovingly serve those around us.
... As love manifests itself more fully within ourselves, we naturally follow its light into fuller service and a wiser understanding of the plan on earth. And when this occurs, we are on our way to becoming divine sons and daughters of God, working through matter on the physical plane. Virgo Zodiacal Deity
The immortal essence of humanity is being stirred from its slumber by this potent Moon's journey through Virgo. A new balance of spirit and matter is being conceived within.
Imagine the Light Grid around planet Earth glowing and growing forming a sacred chalice, ready to receive the emanations of Wesak II Full Moon.

... Even though tonight presents the year’s smallest full moon, the lunar glare will still make it hard to see the J-shaped figure of the Scorpion.
This year’s May full moon is the 3rd of 4 full moons to occur between the March equinox and the June solstice. Normally, seasons have only 3 full moons. The 3rd of 4 full moons to fall in a single season is sometimes called a blue moon. Another definition – that the blue moon is the 2nd of 2 full moons to occur in the same calendar month – has become more popular in modern times. Full Article+Printable Map

Any Full Moon experience can offer us greater illumination of our essential divinity. Issues worked on since the New Moon come to a climax. If the restrictions of the past have been released during the waxing Moon, then the Full Moon can bring fulfillment. If not, the Full Moon might bring serious mental conflicts, possibly affecting the physical body.
The Wesak II Full Moon is exact May 19 at 7:11pm PDT; 02:11 UT 5/20.
What was conceived at the New Moon: Evolutionary Struggles ~ Illuminating Energies, (review above) now comes to fruition and is birthed into the full light of our conscious minds.
Reflections ~ Full Moon's Illumination
The second Full Moon during Taurus is illuminated by the Sun in the constellation Taurus. Venus is positioned about 5º(*) west of the Sun. This double Taurus event (sign/constellation) provides a deeper, more pronounced opportunity for enlightenment and to attune to the penetrating Light of the Path. Venus arouses feelings of right relationship and a wise creative unifying love within humanity. It calls for new life and a set of values that precipitates synthesis.
Full Moon's Position
The Wesak II Full Moon is positioned at the head of the constellation Scorpius. Humanity is facing the cosmic Scorpion in a life and death situation, for the emanations of this constellation give life to what is essential and demand that we die to that which no longer serves. The burning ground we face insists we enter its initiatory fires, transform ourselves and rise up from the ashes like the Phoenix.
Scorpio is the great constellation, which influences the turning point both in the life of humanity and the life of the individual human being. The tests of Scorpio are necessarily three in nature as they concern intimately the readiness of the threefold personality:
1. To reorient itself to the life of the soul, and later
2. To evidence readiness for initiation.
3. To demonstrate sensitivity to the Plan thus becoming the one-pointed disciple in Sagittarius. See Scorpio Zodiacal Deity
The unrelenting Scorpion insures we change and take responsibility for establishing what will endure for the years ahead.
... When offering up the lesser, we are also faced with taking on a greater responsibility, moving from victim consciousness, where we acquiesce to the conditions of life in which we find ourselves--caught in the clutches of the Scorpion--to taking responsibility for creating our life scenarios and choosing a new path that supports our experiential growth and spiritual maturity. Nick Fiorenza
In Summary
The unfolding Wesak II lunar cycle continues to emphasize the presence of evolutionary struggles as well as the availability of illuminating energies. We are being required to make conscious choices about what needs to die and what must be given life. It's time to take responsibility and choose an evolutionary path that leads to right relationship and increased unity.
May 20-21, Tuesday-Wednesday, the Moon journeys through Scorpius and can be seen in the late evening and during the following day's predawn hours. May 22, Thursday morning, the waning Gibbous Moon approaches and aligns with the spout of the teapot asterism of Sagittarius the archer; it lies above and to the left of the Scorpion's stinger, near the bulging Heart of the Milky Way Galaxy, our Galactic Center (GC Location). The Archer's Arrow is aimed toward this Heart. Luna now lies at the eastern border of Sagittarius, while Jupiter is positioned at its western border. Archer Images: 1, 2
May 23, Friday morning, the Moon lies where the teapot top meets the handle, as it moves toward the star Nunki and closes in on Jupiter.
Note: The last possible sighting of Sirius until August 7 occurs tonight just after sunset. Sirius, Good-Bye!
May 24, Saturday morning, Jupiter and the waning Moon are at their closest. The Moon is in exact conjunction with Jupiter today at 5:03am PDT; 12:03 UT. The Moon's position at 3:00am is shown in the map above.
Reflections
~ Waning Gibbous Moon,
Sagittarius, Pluto, Jupiter
Ideally the waning Gibbous Moon is a time that readies us to manifest anew. It brings illumination to the influences of the entire lunar cycle. If not, dis-ease results.
The celestial Archer has his eye on the inclusive Heart of our Galaxy and with the aid of Luna, Jupiter and Pluto is impressing humanity to aim for the illuminating vision that expands our hearts and minds, which includes the “Whole” Truth that unites us all. Sagittarius Keynote
Pluto retrograde (4/2/08-9/7/08), in its close orbital approach to Earth, is headed "backwards" (west) in the direction of the Galactic Heart. The potent influence and location of this telescopic "Dwarf" brings unrelenting transformation to humanity's most basic belief structures. Expect that which no longer serves the greater whole to fall away. Ask for inner guidance during these times of transition and rebirth. Embrace the needed changes.

May 25, Sunday morning, the waning Moon lies east of Jupiter at the eastern border of the constellation Capricornus.
May 26-27, Monday-Tuesday morning, the Moon first approaches, then passes telescopic Neptune as its distance from Jupiter increases. May 26 the Moon is in exact conjunction with Neptune at 7:50pm PDT; 02:50 UT 5/27; it occults the planet for viewers in the N half of Africa, SE Europe, W Asia.
BTW: Both Mercury and Neptune are stationary retrograde May 26.
Reflections
~ Capricornus,
Neptune, Mercury
As we integrate the energies of the Wesak II Full Moon, the waning Gibbous Moon supports a new vision and manifestation, first with her journey through Sagittarius as discussed above and now with her passage through Capricornus and near Neptune.
Capricornus tunes us to our immortal spirit, its earthly potential and a new cycle of effort. Neptune's spiritual emanations are strong as it prepares to retrograde; it can now shatter illusions, erode reality and reshape our world.
Both the constellation and the planet open the doorway to our divine head center, giving us divine purpose and vision.
Mercury preparing to go retrograde means a shift or change in direction is beginning to take place. Allow the new incoming energies to break up the old patterns. Surrender and maintain.

Initiating Change
Last
Quarter Luna and Beyond

Image: Michael Myers
Reflections ~ Last Quarter Moon
The Last Quarter Moon can bring a crisis in consciousness as the Moon squares the Sun. This cycle's experiences have culminated and one must now prepare for rebirth by initiating change.
The Last Quarter Moon is exact May 27, Tuesday, at 7:57pm PDT; 02:57 UT 5/28, when it lies in the constellation Aquarius equally spaced between Neptune and Uranus. The Moon is moving eastward through Aquarius toward Uranus and is in exact conjunction with this planet May 28 at 11:22pm PDT; 06:22 UT 5/29.
May 27 moonrise/set: around 1:30am/12:30pm
May 28 moonrise/set: around 1:45am/1:45pm
(Can you spot the Moon in the day sky before it sets?)
Neptune is now retrograde (5/26-9/7). This means it is in close orbital approach to Earth and its spiritual emanations are stronger than usual. This planet is supporting a spiritual rebirth, shattering of illusions and a reshaping of our world. The freedom urge of Uranus and the sudden changes that it can bring, support the manifestation of evolutionary and revolutionary energies.
The constellation Aquarius is one of supreme importance to our solar system at this time, for it is the sign into which our sun is rapidly moving — and with each passing decade its influence gains momentum and potency. It is largely related to the changes now taking place in our world, particularly towards group consciousness, focus and service. And because it is an air sign, its influence is all pervasive and inter-penetrating. Aquarius Zodiacal Deity
Change is in the air! Luna's Last Quarter stimulation may prove to be quite stressful. This lunar cycle's evolutionary struggles and illuminating energies are now moving us toward the needed metamorphosis.
Hmmm ... Mercury retrograde (5/26-6/18) also supports a shift in direction. Surrender to the process of an eroding old world. Nurture your rebirthing process by taking a new step in a divine new direction. Nothing interferes with the action of the God force within you.
Reflections ~ Waning Crescent Moon
The waning Crescent Moon phase brings enlightenment at a deep level, a time of conscious growth, clarification of values and the surrender to a new future. Rebirth can occur and playfulness can come forth.
As the Wesak 2 Moon diminishes May 29-June 2 and moves toward the glowing embrace of our central luminary, know that all things are possible to Deity through humanity, through you. Nothing can interfere with the cooperative action of the God force and the human being. It is the destiny of the Kingdom of Humanity to fuse with the Divine and manifest the Spiritual Kingdom on Earth.
