BTW: The Moon moves toward the line-up of Antares,
Jupiter and Pluto as the new cycle progresses.

The New Moon is really a no Moon! This Moon is too close to the Sun to be seen. It is hidden from our view by the Sun's glowing light.

Note: For those living in San Francisco this New Moon takes place above the southwestern horizon 2 hours before sunset. The Sun, New Moon and planets are located in the same constellations for other parts of the world; these constellations, in differing time zones, lie in a different location above or below the horizon.

Reflections ~ New Moon, Libra
Zubeneschamali and Zubenelgenubi

With every New Moon our soul goes into meditation; a potential is enlivened and a seed of consciousness is formed deep within. Take some time to create a sacred space. A new cycle is beginning.

The New Moon and Sun conjoin Libra’s two brightest stars Zubeneschamali (zoo-BEN-ess-sha-MAH-lee) and Zubenelgenubi (zoo-BEN-al-je-NEW-bee). The Zuben stars of Libra were originally the pincer claws of the cosmic Scorpion, Scorpius. The name Zubenelgenubi derives from an Arabic phrase meaning the "Scorpion's southern claw" The star above it, Zubeneschamali means the northern claw.

Libra was once a part of the constellations Scorpius and Virgo. During the time of Julius Caesar the Romans created a twelfth constellation to represent Roman justice. They made the two claws of Scorpius into the arms of Libra the Balance. Libra was once considered the scales of the goddess of Justice, which Virgo the Virgin represented. Why the Scorpion Lost His Claws

Zubenelgenubi, the southern claw, has a dual character. It can stimulate vengeance or help repair a relationship. This star has a karmic quality, revealing our past patterns of behavior. Zubeneschamali, the northern claw, arouses spiritual and mental focus. It is beneficent and aligns us with permanent happiness. Its quality is dharmic, reconciling the past, moving us into the future.

As seen in the map above, the two Zuben stars form a triangle with, Dschubba, the head of the cosmic Scorpion.

Dschubba is the administrative seat determining the karmic / dharmic path of involvement for the incarnating soul, based on souls' experiential growth.

… Karma does not mean something bad, it simply means our past experiential path, one that must be reconciled by moving forth from our past into our future (dharma). This is our responsibility to complete our chosen paths of incarnational involvement so we may claim our evolutionary freedom and spiritual awakening. Nick Fiorenza 4/19/04

In Summary

The "missing claws" of Scorpius have become Libra, the razor edged path, where neither spirit nor matter dominates. It is the path that brings forth the "cutting edge" ideas that transform our world. It demands justice, the perfect point of equilibrium, which brings the scales into balance.

Karmic wounded relationships are bound to show themselves during this lunar cycle and dharmic responsibility, close at hand, is destined to tap us on the shoulder for a reconciliation of them.

Seeking truth, yielding on all non-essentials and finding common ground is required now. It’s time to weigh all experience in the scales of the balance. Keep what’s valuable; release what no longer serves the radiant Life. Live on the cutting edge of mortal limits!

This lunar cycle culminates with the Full Moon occurring during the sign of Sagittarius. The Sagittarian Archer is adept at piercing the veil of falsehood, unifying dualities and knowing the way to go. Open to the emanations of this heavenly archer, as this lunar cycle unfolds.

Full Moon in Sagittarius, begins with this New Moon.

Global GRACE Day
Friday ~ New Moon
November 9, 2007

November 10, Saturday, the youngest Moon lies below Dschubba, the head of the cosmic Scorpion. How can you heal a wounded relationship and rise out of old patterns of behavior? Focus in the direction of the Radiant Life.

Note: With an unobscured southwestern horizon and sharp eyes you may be able to see a slender sliver of the newest Moon just after sunset. Dschubba most likely is lost in the twilight glow.

November 11-12, Sunday-Monday, a thin Crescent Moon transits the line-up of Antares, Jupiter and telescopic Pluto.

Nov. 11 The Moon conjoins Antares to the south at 1:00pm PST; 21:00 UT. Viewers in Paraguay and southern Brazil see the Moon occult (hide) the star. IOTA
After sunset with sharp eyes one might be able to see the pair low in the southwest.
Nov. 12 The Moon conjoins Jupiter at 1:09pm PST; 21:09 UT.
After sunset look for Jupiter above and to the right of the Moon.
The Moon conjoins Pluto at the Galactic Center (GC) 11:53pm PST; 07:53 UT 11/13.

Reflections ~ Waxing Crescent Moon,
Scorpius, Antares, Ophiuchus, Jupiter, Pluto

Overcoming obstacles to the new incoming awareness begins with the waxing Crescent Moon. What was conceived at the New Moon, Poised Balance ~ Humanity’s Cutting Edge Path Review above is now in the process of waxing or gestating.

Jupiter's journey through the heavens has been stoking the fires of the Scorpion’s burning ground and enlivening the agent of death, Pluto, since December 2006! Pluto has been lingering over the Heart of our Galaxy and thus, the stinger of the Scorpion for the same amount of time!

Jupiter has been following a path through Ophiuchus the Medicine Man, the Serpent Bearer, often shown with his left foot on the heart of the Scorpion and his right foot above the stinger. Image 1, 2

The emanations of both of these constellations give rise to the kundalini serpent fire within each of us. This fire is evolutionary and transformative.

Beneficent Jupiter offers us expansion of the heart and mind, and therefore movement into new realms. Antares the fiery heart of the Scorpion demands we take a stand for our truth, thus keeping visions current, ensuring growth, evolution and change. Pluto at the Galactic Center is midwifing a total shift in consciousness, a transformation of personal and cultural values on the broadest possible scale.

This is a time of initiation leading to greater freedom, to poised balance and cutting edge ideas that will transform our world. Obstacles from our past provide dharmic opportunities that can set us free.

Jupiter ~ Planetary Treat During Scorpio

November 13-14, Tuesday-Wednesday, the waxing Moon transits the constellation of Sagittarius the Archer. The Moon first positions itself in the lid of the teapot asterism and finally at the eastern border of the constellation.

This celestial Centaur rides toward the light leading humanity beyond its mortal limits, on a cutting edge path, toward its spiritual inheritance. Open to the emanations of this heavenly Archer and help evolve the human kingdom into the spiritual kingdom so that all the Sons and Daughters of God may rejoice. Sagittarius Keynote

This lunar cycle culminates with the November 24 Full Moon occurring during the sign of Sagittarius (11/22-12/21). Throughout this lunar cycle, seek the aid of the Archer in achieving balance, aligning with spiritual truth and knowing the way to go.

11/13-20 the Leonid Meteors are active.
Look east 2:00am-sunrise.

Northwest: Vega, Altair and Deneb make up the Summer Triangle.
Southwest: Neptune, Fomalhaut and Uranus form an "invisible" Triangle!
East: Mars, Orion's Betelgeuse, Taurus' Aldebaran form the Red Triad.

Keep reading this edition of Moon Dances to learn more about these triangles.

Three Seasons of Savory Stars

The stars overhead change as the seasons change on Earth. The stars highest above the horizon in mid evening are considered to be the stars of the season.

How and Why the Night Sky Changes with the Seasons

Cartoon: Why do the stars Move …?

3 Seasons of Stars Can Be Seen:
End of November at 9:00pm
Mid December at 8:00pm
End of December at 7:00pm
Position of the Moon varies from night to night.

Summer Stars … Look west to see the 3 brilliant stars of the Summer Triangle slowly descending toward the horizon. This transformational gateway lies over the Milky Way, leading one on the path of the gods.

Autumn Stars … Almost overhead are the four much dimmer stars, which make up the Great Square of Pegasus the Flying Horse, the Autumn Square, the "Doorway to Paradise." To the east of Pegasus lie autumn’s sparkling blue mini dipper-shaped Pleiades.

Note: The "Celestial Sea" a dark pool of faint stars, is located on the southern horizon below Pegasus. These watery constellations — Capricornus, the Sea-Goat; Aquarius, the Water Bearer; Pisces, the Fishes; Piscis Austrinus, the Southern Fish; Cetus, the Whale; and finally Eridanus, the River — may have commemorated a great flood of long ago.

Winter Stars … Look east to see Orion the Hunter, winter’s cosmic giant, rising over the horizon at 8:00pm during the first two weeks of December, a sure sign that winter is near.

Reflections ~ First Quarter Moon, Neptune

Use Star Map above for orientation ...

The First Quarter Moon, exact November 17 at 2:33pm PST; 22:33 UT, squares the Sun and brings up a tension, as it signals the balance between light and dark … moving toward the light. Obstacles to the new incoming awareness show themselves now. Move toward the light.

November 17, early Saturday, the almost Quarter Moon conjoins Neptune at 3:48am; 11:48 UT and occults (hides) the planet for observers in Southeast Australia and New Zealand. IOTA

World Peace Day ... Global Awakening Teleconference

Neptune at its best brings in a new spiritual impulse of light. The constellation Capricornus carries the seeds of death for the material life and awakens one to the higher frequency of spirit resulting in initiation. What must die within for one to move toward the light the soul?

Reflections ~ The Waxing Gibbous Moon,
Two Telescopic Planets, a Royal Star

The waxing Gibbous Moon is more than half lit, moving toward its full sunlit phase. Illumination and growth are offered by this lunar phase, only if the obstacles from the past are cleared away. This must happen, if the energy released with the coming Full Moon is to be utilized.

November 17-18, Saturday-Sunday, the evening Gibbous Moon transits a triangle of transformation that is invisible to the unaided eye. It is formed by telescopic Neptune, telescopic Uranus and the easily seen Southern Royal Star, Fomalhaut. (see map above)

This "invisible" and potent trio of celestial bodies continues to generate an awakening within humanity. An evolutionary and revolutionary break with our outdated mortal ways is being evoked. Neptune at its highest brings in new spiritual insight; Uranus shakes us loose from constrictions, ultimately leading us to inclusiveness; Fomalhaut is associated with the transition of the ages from Pisces to Aquarius. These energies are stimulating the greater freedom urge of our immortal spirit.

The transiting Moon and its lunar theme reminds us of poised balance and the "cutting edge" path, which demands justice, the perfect point of equilibrium where neither spirit nor matter dominates. Remember, take a deep breath and relax, as often as needed during these transitional times. Seek the Truth; yield on all non-essentials; find the common ground. Invoke the aid of Sagittarius the celestial Centaur.

Two Full "Frosty Moon" Nights
Friday-Saturday, November 23-24

Image: Dan Bush

Full Moon Exact: Saturday, 11/24, at 6:30am PST; 14:30 UT.

November’s Moon is known as the Frosty Moon or more commonly the Full Beaver Moon, a time to prepare for winter and its freezing temperatures.

BTW: The Moon is at perigee November 23 appearing at its largest for this cycle.

Reflections ~ The Full Moon

Any Full Moon experience can offer us greater illumination of our essential divinity. Issues worked on since the New Moon come to a climax. If the restrictions of the past have been released during the waxing Moon, then the Full Moon can bring fulfillment. If not, the Full Moon might bring serious mental conflicts, possibly affecting the physical body.

Full Moon Exact: Saturday, 11/24, at 6:30am PST; 14:30 UT.

Full Moon Global Meditation
SouledOut.org invites you to participate
in the Sagittarius Radiant Life Meditation.

What was conceived at the New Moon, Poised Balance ~ Humanity’s Cutting Edge Path review above now comes to fruition and is birthed into the full light of our conscious minds.

Reflections ~ Full Moon's Illumination

The Full Moon during Sagittarius is illuminated by the Sun positioned at the star Dschubba, the head of the cosmic Scorpion, Scorpius. Sagittarius points us in the direction of of a great light and the soul's guiding vision. The head of the Scorpion reminds us of our chosen karmic and dharmic evolutionary path, as it forms a triangle with the former claws of the Scorpion, now the two bright Zuben stars of Libra. Mercury conjoins these two stars at the time of the Full Moon in much the same way the Sun did at the time of the New Moon, hence the lunar theme is underscored. Review the New Moon map and reflections above.

Reflections ~ Full Moon's Position

Use this map for orientation ...

The exact Full Moon conjoins the sparkling blue-white mini dipper-shaped Pleiades star cluster above the red star Aldebaran in the constellation Taurus.

The Pleiades are intimately linked to Sirius, our Earth, humanity and the higher aspect of mind. The Pleiades seed the vision of Aldebaran, which in turn holds a divine ideal that can aid humanity's evolutionary process through its political systems, its nations. Again, we are reminded that the illuminating Light provides a guiding vision.

Note: The Moon occults (hides) the Pleiades for observers in northern Asia and northern North America 11/24 at 3:00am PST; 11:00 UT. IOTA

BTW: The Moon also conjoins Comet Holmes and Mirphak. (more below)

Comet Holmes, Mirphak, the Full Moon

Naked eye Comet Holmes exploded and is expanding in the constellation Perseus. The Full Moon conjoins this comet, which is conjoining Mirphak (Mirfak), the elbow of our hero Perseus.

Mirphak, a fortuitous star, star of the hero, embodies the totality and success of all that Perseus has been through in his initiatory trials with need to now live his destiny.

Here we are asked to claim the true gift of the inner refinement that the past initiatory fires of life have catalyzed, and to accept that our trials had to precede stepping forth into our greater fulfillment and destiny. Here we must begin to live that destiny in the material world. Nick Fiorenza 9/22/06

In Summary

Humanity is being encouraged to walk the "cutting edge" path with poised balance, reconciling the past and moving into greater spiritual fulfillment and divine destiny.

The always available illuminating Light provides the needed guidance and direction. The all-inclusive heart and intuitive mind are the keys that open the doors to a brand new world.

Imagine humanity tested, tried, and proved emerging triumphant, finding spiritual purpose and vision, bringing illumination to all nations of planet Earth.

Mars "Rolls" Around the Gibbous Moon!
Monday/Tuesday, November 26/27
- 7:30pm-2:00am
Mark your calendar!

Image: Ron Wayman

Using an 8-inch telescope and a digital camera, Ron Wayman, an amateur astronomer in Tampa, FL, took this picture of a close encounter between the waning Gibbous Moon and Mars on Wednesday, July 17, 2003. He felt fortunate to capture the above view. Just a few minutes earlier the the Moon and Mars were covered by clouds! BTW: Some folks saw a lunar occultation of Mars on this night. In San Francisco we saw Mars rotate clockwise around the top of the Moon.

Mars "Rolls" Around the Moon!

A close encounter between the waning Gibbous Moon and Mars, similar to the one pictured above, occurs Monday/Tuesday evening, November 26/27.

On this night, Mars first appears very near the bottom of Moon as it rises above the eastern horizon around 7:30pm. Star Map Then, as the Moon rises higher and journeys west during the evening, Mars gradually rotates around the southern half of  the Moon to its top! You'll want to check it out every 30-60 minutes. Get out the timer and mark your calendar for this fun observation!

Note: 10/26 the Moon conjoins Mars 9:53pm PST; 05:53 UT 10/27.

BTW: The Moon is really moving east past the Red Planet, which is moving west in a retrograde motion (11/15/07-1/30/08).

Because of the west to east rotation of the Earth on its axis, the view of the sky appears to move west 15°/hour. This is 180°, half of a circle, or horizon to horizon in 12 hours (180/12). Simultaneously the Moon moves eastward 1/2°/hour (coincidentally the distance of its own diameter). This is 12°/day, 360°/month or a complete circle of the sky every 30 days. The Moon’s net movement west/hour would be 14.5°/hour, while the movement of Mars would be more than 15¼/hour because it is now moving westward, not eastward through Gemini.

Reflections ~ Waning Gibbous Moon,
Mars, Gemini Twins, Betelgeuse

Ideally the waning Gibbous Moon brings illumination to the influences of the entire lunar cycle. If not, dis-ease results.

The Moon and Mars in the constellation of the Gemini Twins emphasizes the tensions and relationship between the personality and the soul. This uncomfortable and purposeful dance of the dualities eventually leads to cooperation and synthesis. Mars the spiritual warrior is giving humanity plenty of opportunities to interact with opposing forces as its orbital motion brings it closer to Earth. The planet remains located in the constellation Gemini as it reaches opposition and peak brightness December 24. Gemini Keynote

Betelgeuse the red shoulder star of Orion aligns with Mars at almost the same altitude. Star Maps 1, 2 The emanations of this star come to the rescue of those who are spiritually attuned by stimulating the heart center, hence increasing compassion, cooperation and planetary service. What the soul is to the human, Betelgeuse is to our solar system.

These aligned celestial bodies affirm that our present world of dualities and evolutionary struggles can offer opportunities, which lead to heartfelt expansions of consciousness.

12/1 Sky Chart 6:30am
How many planets can you see?

November 30, Friday morning, the waning Gibbous Moon approaches blue-white Regulus, Leo the Lion's bright sparkling heart star. The Moon, Regulus and Saturn all beautifully line-up. Listen, you just might hear Leo roar with delight in the light of the Moon!

Note: Today the Sun enters the 13th constellation, Ophhiuchus the Medicine Man, just as Jupiter is at the eastern border of Ophiuchus ready to enter the constellation Sagittarius.

December 1, Saturday morning, Last Quarter Luna snuggles up to Saturn near the belly of the Lion. This is bound to make the Lion roar and you puuurrr!

Note: The Moon conjoins Saturn 12/1 at 3:27am PST; 11:27 UT about 1 1/4 hours before the Last Quarter Moon is exact.

Reflections ~ Last Quarter Moon,
Leo the Lion, Regulus, Saturn

The Last Quarter Moon can bring a crisis in consciousness as the Moon squares the Sun. This cycle's experiences have culminated and one must now prepare for rebirth by initiating change. The Last Quarter Moon is exact December 1, Saturday, at 4:44am PST; 12:44 UT.

Leo's highest expression is the fully integrated personality who stands out from the "herd" and is ignited by the fire of Divine Will. The one who masters Leo's energies can begin the group work of the Soul. The Law of the Soul is being evoked by Leo’s heart star, Regulus, while Saturn administers tests of leadership, honesty and integrity.

How can you walk the cutting edge path of the soul? What changes are needed to weave leadership, honesty and integrity into your life?

December 2, Sunday morning, Luna lies below Leo's tail. Be aware when any celestial body is in close proximity of the Lion’s tail star, Denebola. This star also known as the changer demands evolution and alignment with the higher law of the Soul. When the Lion's tail "wags", is stimulated ... swift judgment is passed and changes occur.

December 4-5, Tuesday-Wednesday, these two mornings bless night owls, early birds and clock setters alike, with an exquisite view! Mark your calendar and set your clock. Tuesday morning, old thin Luna shows off her beautiful crescent shape as she lines up to the west of sparkling blue-white Spica and glorious Venus (See 12/4 sky chart link under image.). It's a breath-taking line-up. Wednesday morning, as shown in the image above, the predawn trio forms an elegant triangle that's guaranteed to open your heart as Hanukkah begins. Look Up! Start two great days in two great ways!

Note: The Moon conjoins Venus 12/5 at 11:04am PST; 19:04 UT.

Reflections ~ Waning Crescent Moon,
Spica, Virgo the Virgin, Venus

The waning Crescent Moon phase brings enlightenment at a deep level, a time of conscious growth, clarification of values and the surrender to a new future. Rebirth can occur and playfulness can come forth.

The emanations from Virgo’s heavenly Holy Grail nurture and shield the hidden divinity of each one of us until the gestation period is complete and spiritual birth can occur. The Moon and Venus are calling for this birth, as they enliven the Virgin and her sacred womb, Spica.

...  this placement [of Venus], when considered esoterically, expresses the deepest commitment Love may unfold. The Son of Mind, the indwelling Christ Principle inherent in Virgo, descends into matter. It is thus that pure Love/Wisdom incarnates into the earth element and the Loving Spirit descends into Mother/matter. This ~fall~ is for the purpose of ~raising up~ humanity and is one of the sacrifices Love makes for mankind. … for a soul-centered person … with Venus in this position … [one] can perform those healing tasks which allow the Light of Love to re-emerge from its protected but heretofore obscure dwelling place. Venus in Esoteric Astrology

This cycle's waning Moon reminds us that it is Love/Wisdom that allows humanity to walk the cutting edge path with poised balance. Imagine the Light of Love emerging within humanity. Call upon Venus and Virgo, for an outpouring of the radiant heart.

The Festivals of Lights are beginning! Keep shinin'! Happy Hanukkah!
