Summer Dreams

Dragonfly dreams and butterfly schemes
take me to the edge of the world.
Blue Jay cries as he flies
through the gardens of my dreams.

Whip-o-will trills as he glides over the hills
and Jack Rabbit runs to his den in the dun
as west wind plays throughout long summer's days ...
and crow swoops below … the sun's warming glow.

So hop along frog sings loud from his bog
and leaps along river's sweeps
as he eats his dinner of flies …
it's the end of a soft summer's day.

Ribit, ribet , ribit, ribet!

note ... dun is a very old English word referring to rabbit holes in a muddy river bank
